It does not mean antisocial or never wanting to leave the house. That would be “homebody.”
According to Dictionary.com, a "homebody" is a person who prefers pleasures and activities that center around the home. However, "home" doesn't specifically mean a physical house.
HOME is where family, friends and love ones are. Home is where we feel joy, contentment, pleasure, and relaxation. We have been in many other locations when we have said "I feel right at home." Home elicits a feeling of belonging. Our "house" or any other type of dwelling is what we pay for, the roof over our head. This is our sanctuary.
BODY refers to our physical structure. The health of our body includes the mental and physical wellness. Healthy living requires fresh air, sunshine, nutritious foods, water, active lifestyles, relationships, rewarding career/retirement, and hobbies.
So, what is HomeBODY about?
It is about healthy lifestyle that starts at home. It is about gratitude for your humble abode. It is about feeling good, confident, content and at peace. It isn’t about fad diets or commercial products. It doesn't have to be about expensive fitness equipment or gym memberships that you never use (coming from a member who feels she donates to the gym monthly and never goes!). HomeBODY is about enjoying being alone and finding peace with yourself. It is about enjoying your home life and embracing your interests and hobbies. It is about worklife balance. It is about being mindful and present. It's about living a healthy life and overcoming stress.
It's about finding pleasure wherever you feel at home and peace with yourself. You will be happy to see when you reach this point, that happiness comes easy and opportunities are abounding!
